Honoring our Hometown Heroes

On Monday August 10, the Mobile City Council honored our Alabama Heroes. It was a beautiful ceremony. John Spivey played Amazing Grace on Bagpipe, Ms. Carly York Fulmer sang “America the Beautiful”, the tolling of the bells made the ceremony complete.  Our fighters and EMS Personnel received the “Medal of Service” award. Our Military received the “Let Freedom Ring” award and Law Enforcement Personnel received the “Medal of Distinction” award.  Also among those honored were Firefighters and EMS Personnel killed in the line of duty. Those who gave the most, while serving others received the “Medal of Sacrifice” award. Those receiving awards had to have served at least ten years.

Among our Hometown Heroes honored at the ceremony were Ann and J. T. Abbott, Doug Creighton and Buddy Resmondo all long time residents and servants of our Community for many, many years. Doug’s wife Robin has served several years as well. We have had many heroes through the years, all could not attend the celebration and many who are no longer with us, but we say “thank you”.  The next time you see one of these faithful servants, say to them, “Thank you for what you do”.

There is a saying about firefighters” They go running into a house, when everybody else is running out”.
